[Academic Achievements] "Global Enterprise Innovation Index 2024" and Other Research Outcomes Released at the 2024 Donghu Forum

News Network (Correspondents: Xiao Yufan, Yu Yifei) From October 19 to 21, 2024, the Donghu Forum was held. At the conference, Wuhan University’s (Wuhan) Institute of Data Intelligence, Big Data Institute, Center for Science, Technology and Education Assessment, and School of Information Management jointly released the "Global Enterprise Innovation Index 2024" and the "Innovation Development Report of Major Urban Agglomerations in China (2024)."

At the opening ceremony, Ma Feicheng from Wuhan University introduced the main content of the "Global Enterprise Innovation Index 2024," discussing its background, indicator system, research subjects, global corporate innovation performance, and Chinese corporate innovation performance. His report selects the top 100 enterprises across six industrial sectors, including next-generation information technology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, biotechnology, new energy vehicles, and renewable energy, from three dimensions: knowledge innovation, technology innovation, and innovation collaboration. The results show that Chinese enterprises performed exceptionally in next-generation information technology and new energy sectors, with 66 companies making the list, ranking third globally.

At the first Changjiang Innovation Think Tank Forum, held as a parallel session of the Donghu Forum, Zhang Lin from Wuhan University interpreted the "Innovation Development Report of Major Urban Agglomerations in China (2024)." The report designs an indicator system based on four dimensions: innovation resource aggregation, innovation activity output, impact of innovation achievements, and regional innovation collaboration. It systematically assesses the innovation development status of the Yangtze River Delta, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, central Yangtze River urban agglomeration, and Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration. The results indicate that the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration occupies a central position in the national innovation landscape, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area leads the country in regional collaborative development, and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration shows balanced development across various dimensions. In contrast, the central Yangtze River urban agglomeration and Chengdu-Chongqing urban agglomeration need to further build on their development foundations and seize development opportunities, taking on greater missions and playing a larger role in promoting national high-quality development.

It is reported that the "Global Enterprise Innovation Index 2024" and the "Innovation Development Report of Major Urban Agglomerations in China (2024)" are core contents of the "Blue Book on Science and Technology Innovation" series. This series is the first domestic blue book focusing on research on corporate technology innovation. It aims to gather significant theoretical and practical achievements in related fields, promote the dissemination of knowledge and practical exploration in technology innovation, and serve the development needs of academia and industry.
