[Academic Dynamics] Wuhan University Hosts Frontier Forum on the Overseas Humanities and Social Sciences Development in the Era of Digital Intelligence

News Network (Correspondent: Wang Zheng) On October 10, the “Frontier Forum on the Overseas Humanities and Social Sciences Development in the Era of Digital Intelligence: Current Status and Future Directions" was held at our university.

At the book launch ceremony for "Annual Report on Overseas Humanities and Social Sciences 2022" and "Annual Report on Overseas Humanities and Social Sciences 2023 (Digital Intelligence Special)," Lu Wei presented books to the authors and they took commemorative photos. During the forum, Professor Wang Xiaoguang from the School of Information Management, Professor Yu Feng from the Academy of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, and Associate Professor Li Xun from the School of Economics and Management shared their insights on the progress and trends of digital humanities research, the moral psychology of artificial intelligence, and the issue of "humanistic care" in the digital intelligence era. Participants actively exchanged ideas based on their respective disciplines, majors, and research directions.

Feng Guo noted that this event is the first in a series of forums planned by the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences to explore the development of humanities and social sciences in the digital intelligence era. Future forums will cover “Humanities and Social Sciences Development in the Era of Digital Intelligence: Action and Vision” , “Humanities and Social Sciences Development in the Era of Digital Intelligence: Paradigms and Challenges” and other frontier forums, aiming to create a multidisciplinary dialogue and exchange platform that leads knowledge, theoretical, and methodological innovation in the digital intelligence era.

In recent years, Wuhan University has vigorously promoted the development of digital humanities, advancing the digital transformation of philosophy and social sciences. The university aims to enhance top-level design and resource integration in fields such as digital humanities and digital economy, exploring various possible directions for "Digital Intelligence + Philosophy and Social Sciences." Since 2006, our university has published 15 volumes of the " Annual Report on Overseas Humanities and Social Sciences." In the 2022-2023 selection of frontier tracking projects in overseas humanities and social sciences research, Wuhan University prioritized supporting research in fields such as computational social science and digital humanities, launching a "Digital Intelligence Special." It has established special projects integrating artificial intelligence and digital humanities, selected teams for innovative research in social sciences, and organized a series of interdisciplinary academic events, relying on platforms like the Big Data Research Institute to promote the development of philosophy and social sciences in the digital intelligence era.
