Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Xu Bu Lectured on China-ASEAN Relations

On March 7, Dr. Xu Bu, Head of the Chinese Mission to ASEAN and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, was invited to visit our university and delivered a report entitled "China-ASEAN relations". Professor Hu Dekun, Humanities and Social Sciences Senior Professor and director of Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies, hosted the seminar, and faculties and students from China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies and Wuhan University Institute for International Studies took part in this seminar.

Ambassador Xu Bu said that neighborhood diplomacy occupies an important place in global diplomacy while Southeast Asia enjoys the top priority in neighborhood diplomacy. After decades of efforts, China - ASEAN relations have achieved fruitful results, including actively promoting China-ASEAN strategic coordination, conducting extensive cooperation in both traditional and non-traditional security areas, promoting the South China Sea Code of Conduct (COC) consultation, deepening economic and trade cooperation, strengthening exchanges in areas such as humanities and social aspects and so on. Ambassador Xu also pointed out there are still many practical problems in China - ASEAN relationship, which will test our diplomatic skills and wisdom.
