Former Indonesian Minister of Marine Fisheries Rokhmin Dahuri Visited our University and Gave Lectures

 

On March 8, professor Rokhmin Dahuri, former Indonesian Minister of Maritime Fisheries from Bogor Agricultural University of Indonesia, visited our university. Deputy Party Secretary Luo Yuting of WHU met with Rokhmin Dahuri and his colleagues in the VIP room of the administration building, and they reached agreements on cooperating in the fields of marine economy, marine policy etc. between Wuhan University and Bogor Agricultural University.

 


 

Invited by two institutes of Wuhan University (China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies and Collaborative Innovation Center for Territorial Sovereignty and Maritime Rights)。At the invitation of Wuhan University China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies and Collaborative Innovation Center for Territorial Sovereignty and Maritime Rights, professor Rokhmin Dahuri delivered two lectures entitled “Indonesia Ocean Pivot Strategy” and “Sustainable Development of Marine Economy - the Concept of Blue Economy”. He believes that China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and Indonesia’s Global Ocean Pivot Strategy have a lot in common, all aiming at achieving peaceful development and common prosperity of Asia Pacific region. During the lectures, professor Rokhmin Dahuri elaborated on the importance of seacoast and sea on people’s life, the threats and challenges faced by coastal and marine sustainable development, the concept of blue economy, practical applications and guidance for marine sustainable development.
