Global Scholars Focus on Cultural Heritage and Creative Cities at ICOMOS Crossover Forum

 

 

  

 

 On November 1, the 4th International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Crossover Forum with the theme Cultural Heritage and Creative Cities was held in Wuhan University.

 

  In the keynote speech part of this two-day forum, delegates delivered their reports on the topic of protecting historical and cultural resources, introduced some best practices of historical and cultural heritage protection in the world, and pointed out that in order to solve the theoretical and practical issues of building “creative city”, we should give full play to the innovative and leading role of historical architectures. 

 

  In the afternoon of November 2, an academic dialogue entitled “When East Meets West” was conducted at the new library of Wuhan University, with the participation of Feng Tianyu, senior professor of humanities and social sciences of Wuhan University, and Pierre Laconte, an expert of urban planning from Belgium. They had a dialogue on the cultural relations between the east and west, the historical evolution and our current attitude towards foreign culture.
