Recently, the 17th World Economic History Congress was held in Kyoto Japan. Associate Professor Diao Li from the School of Economics and Management of Wuhan University attended this congress at its invitation and made keynote speech in panel discussion.
Associate Professor Diao Li attended the panel discussion entitled China Public Finance: From military-fiscal state through the issues of common pool resource and foreign trade taxation to the emergence of public debt and delivered a speech entitledThe Research of Tea Trade and Taxation between China and Russia in the Late Qing Dynasty (1861-1919), and she exchanged her idea with domestic and foreign scholars. The discussion was hosted by Professor R. Rin Wong, an expert in world’s economic history from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
World Economic History Congress is hosted by the International Economic History Association every three-year, and it is a big event in circle of economic history. International Economic History Association is one of the world's most authoritative humanities and social science academic organization, it is hailed as the Olympic in the international history circle. The theme of this Congress this year was Diversity in Development, more than 2,000 scholars from various countries around the world attended the Congress. (School of Economics and Management)
