Professor Donald Harper from University of Chicago and Professor Marc Kalinowski from University of Paris Visit WHU

    On September 10, at the invitation of the School of History of Wuhan University, Professor Donald Harper from the East Asia Department of University of Chicago and Professor Marc Kalinowski from the Department of Religion of École Pratique des Hautes Études came to our university for a 20-day academic exchanges. They participated in the cooperative research project entitled Popular Culture and Books of Fate in Early China.

    On September 15, Professor Donald Harper and Marc Kalinowski delivered an academic report entitled the Fate of Ancient Chinese Book and Popular Culture. Professor Donald Harper analyzed the use of the word "hemerology" in the Assyrian Studies in the 19th century and introduced the latest developments of bullet library silk manuscripts research. On September 18, Professor Donald Harper and Marc Kalinowski made two academic lectures with the respective theme of “ancient charms with witchcraft nature” and “yin and yang and Confucian scholars in the Han Dynasty”.
