From June 28 to July 5, Professor QiuJunping, Professor Zhao Rongying and Ph.D. student Yu Houqiang from the School of Information Management took part in the 15th International Conference on Scientometrics and Informetrics (ISSI) held in Turkey.
More than 300 representatives from 43 countries and regions participated in this conference. It attracted the attendance of 34 representatives from Chinese universities like Wuhan University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University of Technology, Dalian University of Technology. That makes China the second largest participating country, second only to the host country Turkey.
During the conference, Professor Qiu delivered an academic report entitled Differences in Received Citations Over Time and Across Fields in China. By using the massive data over 20 years and across 4 disciplines, Professor Qiu analyzed China’s citation distribution and put forward an innovative way to layer alternative metrics indicators based on impact model. Professor Zhao Rongying made a report entitled Evolutionary Analysis of Collaboration Networks in Scientometrics, which demonstrated its development process and characteristics, and was well received by the representatives.
In addition, as the host of the 16th ISSI conference in 2017, our delegation promoted Wuhan University through a variety of forms such as posters, leaflets, video, etc. In the ISSI council meeting, a presentation was made to brief the preparation of the 16th ISSI conference.
