News network (Reporter: Fa Xuan) From November 9 to 10, the 2024 Annual Meeting of the China Society of Studies on Sports Laws and the Asian Sports Law Conference were held at Wuhan University. Over 170 scholars and practitioners from China, Japan, and South Korea convened to discuss the theme of “Sports Law System Development and Modernization of Sports Rule of Law” to strengthen the legal foundation for building a sports power and contribute to the modernization of sports governance and the rule of law.
In the keynote session, Vice President of the China Society of Studies on Sports Laws and Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences at Wuhan University, Professor Xiao Yongping, delivered a report titled “Innovative Development of China’s Foreign Relations Law.” Professor Takuo Ohashi, Director of the Japan Sports Law Association and Professor at Kanazawa Institute of Technology, presented on "The Current System and Issues of the Governance Rules for Japanese Sports Organizations Regarding the Olympics and Paralympics." Professor Kim Dae-Hee, Executive Director of the Korean Society for Sports and Entertainment Law and a professor at the Law School of Pukyong National University, shared insights on "Changes and Prospects of Sports Paradigms and Sports Law." Additionally, Wang Lijun, Vice President of the Hebei High People's Court, gave a report titled "Advancing Research and Practice in Sports Law to Provide Strong Legal Support for Building a Strong Sports Nation."
In the parallel forums, discussions took place on topics such as "Forum for Scholars from China, Japan, and South Korea," "International Rule of Law and Global Governance," "Sports Modernization and Sports Human Rights," "Sports Industry, Sports Data, and Intellectual Property," "Sports Events and Industry Management," and "Anti-Doping Governance and Sports Arbitration." A total of 33 domestic and foreign experts and scholars presented their latest research findings, engaging in in-depth discussions with attendees.
At the closing ceremony, the "2024 Outstanding Papers of the Annual Meeting of the China Society of Studies on Sports Laws " were announced, and certificates were awarded to the winners by the association's representatives.
The conference was hosted by the China Society of Studies on Sports Laws and Wuhan University, and jointly organized by the Academy of International Law and Global Governance, the School of Law, and the Institute of International Law at Wuhan University.
