[Academic Achievements] Book Launch of the "Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations" Held

News Network (Correspondent: Liu Zheng) On September 26, the book launch for "Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations" was held at University College London (UCL). This English monograph was initiated by the Intelligent Computing Laboratory for Cultural Heritage at Wuhan University, leveraging the advantages of interdisciplinary integration.

Over 40 experts and scholars attended the book launch ceremony, which was hosted by Professor Charlie Inskip, head of the Information Studies Department at UCL, and Dr. Gao Jin.

David Cohen remarked that UCL has a long tradition of pioneering research and digital humanities education. The joint publication of this new book opens up new avenues for exploring the important field of intelligent computing for cultural heritage, marking significant achievements in cutting-edge research, international collaboration, and knowledge innovation in digital humanities. He expressed hope for continued collaboration with Wuhan University’s Intelligent Computing Laboratory to cultivate more internationally competitive innovative talents.


Professor Wang Xiaoguang, the chief editor of the series, stated that digital humanities research is rapidly emerging worldwide. The Intelligent Computing Laboratory for Cultural Heritage focuses on the international frontiers of digital humanities and has successfully published "Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations," which represents an important outcome of international academic collaboration, and brings together the wisdom of numerous international experts.

After the book launch ceremony, Wuhan University and UCL co-hosted an academic seminar on mathematical humanities, discussing topics such as "Intelligent Data Construction for Cultural Heritage in the AI Era," "Sino-British Research and Educational Cooperation," and "Chinese Digital Humanities and Sino-British Digital Transformation."

It is reported that "Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations," as the first volume of the "Digital Humanities and Intelligent Computing" series, was published by Routledge, a subsidiary of the Taylor & Francis Group. The book gathers perspectives and practical cases from various regions, including Asia, covering themes such as digital humanities research and teaching, the digitization and protection of cultural heritage, and modeling techniques for cultural heritage data and intelligent activation methods. It is significant for deepening the understanding of the development and frontiers of digital humanities and intelligent computing for cultural heritage. The publication of this book represents the results of years of collaboration between Wuhan University and UCL.
