On February 16, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) notified in a letter that Wuhan University was approved by the Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) and the Board of Directors, and the School of Economics and Management has officially passed the AACSB international accreditation with 5 years accreditation period.
It is reported that AACSB, founded in 1916, is the world's leading non-governmental accreditation organization for business schools and accounting programs. It has been implementing higher management education accreditation since 1919. It is widely recognized that the AACSB education accreditation system ranks first in the world in its kind, with a strict system and high standard. Passing the AACSB accreditation means that the business education has reached a world-class level. Only less than 5% of the business schools around the world have passed this accreditation. As of December 2021, less than 1% of business schools in the world have passed the three international accreditations for business education, and only 11 universities in China have passed all of them.
Since the first accreditation by AMBA in 2010, the School of Economics and Management has been promoting the internationalization and modern governance of the School through continuous participation in international accreditation. The School has renewed AMBA accreditation for another 5 years in 2013, passed AACSB accreditation application in 2014 and entered the formal accreditation process, obtained 3-year EQUIS accreditation for the first time in 2016, and renewed another 3-year EQUIS accreditation in 2019. After this AACSB accreditation, the School has successively passed the three major international business education accreditations of AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB, and has taken another important step in the journey of building an internationally renowned business school.
