WHU and Pakistani University Jointly Build the Centre for Chinese Legal Study

On October 11, the inauguration ceremony of the Centre for Chinese Legal Study, which was jointly built by Wuhan University School of Law and Pakistan Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), was held in Lahore. The Center's mission is to serve the "Belt and Road" initiative and the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, promote the cooperation between China and Pakistan, and the exchange of legal research. It is another important achievement of our university to strengthen international exchanges and cooperation.

Li Fei, Vice President of Wuhan University, said that Wuhan University, as a participant and promoter of China-Pakistan educational exchanges, has unswervingly fulfilled its responsibility and contributed to the educational exchanges between the two countries. Under the background of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the acceleration of the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, it is necessary to strengthen the exchange of legal studies and legal practices between China and Pakistan. The discipline of law is the ace of Wuhan University and the key discipline of the country's "double first-class" initiative. Wuhan University and our School of Law will fully support the construction of the Centre for Chinese Legal Study and further deepen cooperation in the training of personnel, academic research, legal practice and international exchanges. The Center will also become an important link to promote China-Pakistan exchanges in rule of law, witness and develop China-Pakistan friendship.

The establishment of the Center has received extensive attention in the local area. More than 100 guests from Pakistan's legal circle and business circles, as well as Chinese embassy in Pakistan and Chinese diplomats in the Lahore consulate attended the ceremony. More than 10 local media have attended the ceremony and reported the event.
