The organizing committee believes that Guo Zhiyong has been advocating that the Four Books (The Great Learning, The Doctrine of the Mean, The Confucian Analects, and The Works of Mencius) and the Five Classics (The Book of Songs, The Book of History, The Book of Changes, The Book of Rites and The Spring and Autumn Annals) should be included in teachings, and he is a representative the contemporary neo-Confucianism in mainland.
Professor Guo said that the award would be regarded as the greatest encouragement. He thanked his relatives and friends for their care and help, and he will continue to help young scholars as much as possible. He hoped that more young scholars could commit themselves to promoting the development of rural Confucianism, community Confucianism and so on.
Top on the agenda of the 8th World Confucian Conference is the discussion on value and meaning of Confucianism. At the meeting, scholars exchanged their views around the theme of "Confucianism and Human Fate Community".
