Professor Zhu Xiaodong from University of Toronto in Canada Gave Lecture at WHU

On November 28, 2016, Prof. Zhu Xiaodong from the University of Toronto gave a lecture entitled "Trade, Migration and Productivity: A Quantitative Analysis of China" for the teachers and students of the School of Economics and Management.

In his lecture, Professor Zhu first mentioned that the gap between rich and poor countries is mainly due to the difference in total factor productivity, and resource mismatch plays a certain role in it. In order to further identify the root causes of resource mismatch, Professor Zhu analyzed the issue from the perspective of policy reform. Taking China as the research object, Professor Zhu mentioned that the trade and reform of surplus labor policy would redistribute resources and thus improve total factor productivity and promote economic growth.

Professor Zhu Xiaodong graduated from the University of Chicago in 1991 with a doctorate degree in economics. He is also a distinguished professor of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and currently he is a professor in economics from University of Toronto in Canada.
