Major National Social Science Fund Project Chaired by Professor Huang Ruhua Held Research Opening Report

On May 20, Major National Social Science Fund Project “Government Data Opening and Sharing Strategies Oriented towards National Data Strategy”, which is hosted by Professor Huang Ruhua, vice dean of the School of Information Management, held its research opening report, many well-known experts and scholars from domestic universities attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Professor Huang Ruhua represented her team and introduced the general research framework, research focus and difficulties, research objective and innovation, organizational arrangement and schedule, expected results and so on, her team members introduced 5 sub-topics of the project. Participating experts put forward some constructive suggestions. Professor Ma Feicheng, Senior Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences of Wuhan University, stressed that the project research should focus on key issues, which cater to the real needs of the government and the public; Professor Ke Ping from the Department of Information Resources Management of Nankai University expressed that the research should be strategic and forward-looking by proceeding from the height of national strategy; Professor Sun Jianjun, Dean of the School of Information Management of Nanjing University, said that when sharing government data in the big data environment, attention should be paid to the question of how to create value after collecting, connecting, exchanging and sharing data; Professor Li Guangjian, Director of the Department of Information Management of Peking University, proposed that the project team should think about how to explore the value of the data through multiple data fusion, how to define users’ requirements for government data sharing, and how to study government data sharing from use end and application end; Professor Cao Shujin from the School of Information Management of Sun Yat-sen University emphasized the distinction between opening and sharing, he encouraged the team to explore the intermediate link from opening to sharing; Professor Hu Changping from the School of Information Management of Wuhan University discussed the possible difficulties and problems the research team may encounter during their research work as well as solutions, he encouraged the team to pay more field trips to relevant departments and places. Huang Changzhu, evaluation team leader of the Science of Library, Information and Archive Management of the National Social Science Fund, and member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, concluded the meeting by saying that as a major application strategy research of great relevance, the team should submit its stage research results to relevant government departments as an advisory report in a timely manner.
