The 6th Annual Conference of China Young Political Economics Scholars was Held in WHU

From May 7 to 8, the 6th Annual Conference of China Young Political Economics Scholars was held in the School of Economics and Management. The theme of this conference was "the New Stage of Economic Development, the New Normal and New Development of Political Economy: Theory, Issues and Policies", and it was designed to promote exchanges and development of Chinese young political economics scholars.

At the meeting, Professor Jian Xinhua from the School of Economics and Management stressed that under the new normal, Marxist political economy was not outdated, to solve the existing worldwide economics problems, we need to rely on Chinese socialist political economics. It was recommended that young scholars should follow the practice of China's reform and development, solve major scientific problems and global problems concerning China's reform and development, sum up China’s experience in a scientific manner so as to contribute to China's reform and development. Professor Yan Pengfei delivered a report entitled “Theoretical System of Marxist Political Economy” and elaborated on the methodology of Marx and overall development concept, emphasizing that the political economy system should have a new discourse, the market economy should become part of the means of regulation, and efforts should be made to strengthen the power of the government to regulate. Scholar He Yan from Tsinghua University approached political economics from an interdisciplinary perspective and introduced that his research goal was to build a people-centered open system of historical materialism while giving considerations to both natural and social sciences.

In addition, the participants discussed around topics such as methodology of economics, basic theories, economic thoughts, Chinese policy involving various frontier theory, practice and methods. Participants believed that to break the blind faith in Western theories, we should use dialectical materialism and historical materialism methodology in political economics so as to promote its development and better serve China's economic reform and development.
