The Ministry of Education and Our University Build National Institute of Chinese Language Matters and Social Development

On April 26, Department of Languages & Words Info Administration of the Ministry of Education and Wuhan University signed an agreement to jointly build the “National Institute of Chinese Language Matters and Social Development”, the two sides will conduct in-depth cooperation in discipline construction, personnel training, policy consultation, social services, jointly promoting Chinese language situation monitoring and research.

In July 2014, "National Institute of Chinese Language Matters and Social Development" was established, and this institute engages mainly in the research of language policy and planning, social language life and so on, it is jointly built and managed by the Department of Languages & Words Info Administration of the Ministry of Education and Wuhan University. In May 2015, the Ministry of Education identified it as a national language think tank pilot project. Its main tasks are: conducting real-time monitoring and research on Chinese language usage, analyzing major problems in language life in a timely manner, providing decision-making references for the Party and governments, providing services for economic and social development.
