Qin Dynasty Bamboo Slips Restored Successfully: Key Project of the Ministry of Education Identified Excellence

After six years of research, Center of Bamboo and Silk Manuscripts of Wuhan University recently successfully restored the original bamboo slips of Qin Dynasty. Researchers can now have a better interpretation of the bamboo slips as well as a more comprehensive understanding of the Qin Dynasty.

"Comprehensive Research on the Qin Bamboo Slips" is a key project of philosophy and social science under the Ministry of Education chaired by Professor Chen Wei. Recently, this project was identified as excellence in its closure appraisal.

Experts believe that the discovery of Qin bamboo slips provides first-hand material for the research of Qin and Han history and ancient Chinese history, which also makes a detailed study of Qin history possible. This project re-organized and re-studied the unearthed Qin bamboo slips in a comprehensive way, restoring the whole picture of the unearthed Qin bamboo slips systematically. According to this more correct Qin bamboo slips interpretation, a comprehensive understanding of the Qin system and new research results have been made.

This project was established in the end of 2008. So far, the project team has published more than 110 papers in domestic and foreign journals, as well as one monograph Qin Bamboo Slips Collection. A series of important progress have been made, which have attracted widespread interest and quotation from the academic circle.
