Professor Zou Yuanjiang was Invited to UK for Lectures

From March 6 to 20, Professor Zou Yuanjiang from the School of Philosophy was invited to the University of Leeds, Newcastle University, Aberdeen University and School of Oriental and African Studies of University of London for lectures.

In the School of Performing Arts, University of Leeds, Professor Zou Yuanjiang was invited to watch the NanKe Dream and made an academic report entitled "On the Performing Aesthetics of Tang Xianzu’s Nanke Dreams". In the Chinese Embassy in Britain, Professor Zou delivered a speech entitled "Dream and Survival: Du Liniang’s Survival Field in Tang Xianzu’s Peony Pavilion".

Tang Xianzu and Shakespeare were two contemporaneous literary giants who both died in 1616. To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of two great playwrights, 2016 will observe a series of activities to commemorate them. As the standing director of the Chinese Opera Society and vice president of the Tang Xianzu Research Society, Professor Zou Yuanjiang made a lecture tour in Britain, which constituted an important part of the commemoration. It is learnt that this event was followed and highly acclaimed by British European Times and the Chinese Xinhua News Agency, People.com and other media. (School of Philosophy)
