Professor from Chuo University of Japan Lectures in the School of History

In the afternoon of November 10, Professor あべゆきのぶ gave an academic lecture entitled Class Ruling in the Han Dynasty: with the changes of Western Han Dynasty as the Center in our university.

Based on previous studies and sorting out all kind of literatures, professor used "ruling class" as the starting point, re-examined the development of state institutions in the Han Dynasty, and then explored the relationship between state and society in the Qin and Han Dynasties, and discussed whether there was any continuity between those two dynasties.

He believed that the “ruling class” in the early Western Han Dynasty was mainly composed of military class, in which the Huaibei Group contributing to the founding of the Dynasty was the real “ruling group”. The changes of the “ruling class” in the Western Han Dynasty were not merely for the purpose of strengthening monarchical power, nor constructing a system of Confucianism.
