The FMS list was created in response to the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Science and Technology’s call to break the over-reliance on SCI. The list adheres to peer review as the foundation, value orientation as the core, and equivalent application as the principle, focusing on the quality and academic contribution of published articles. It is based on a combination of bibliometric analysis and expert evaluation. The first edition of the list was released in 2020, followed by an update in 2022. The 2025 update includes 94 high-quality Chinese journals and 1,183 high-quality international journals.

Among the six Wuhan University journals selected, Economic Review, Document, Information & Knowledge, Annals of Economics and Finance, and Data and Information Management were listed for the third time, while Journal of Information Resources Management and Luojia Management Review were selected for the first time. This recognition reflects the high academic quality and influence of Wuhan University’s humanities and social sciences journals and affirms the university’s achievements in journal development.

Wuhan University has consistently attached great importance to the development of humanities and social sciences journals, providing strong support in terms of policies, funding, and services. It has also organized various initiatives to promote collaboration and growth. Looking ahead, the university aims to build a high-level cluster of academic journals in the humanities and social sciences, enhancing academic communication and contributing to its “Double First-Class” initiative.
