(Reported by Sun Yujiao) From May 14 to 15, Wuhan University hosted the second conference of the University Alliance for Philosophy and Social Science Laboratories.
In her opening remarks, Li Li, Associate Vice President of the University of Exeter (UK), praised the outstanding achievements of Wuhan University’s Intelligent Computing Laboratory for Cultural Heritage and the School of Information Management in talent cultivation. She expressed the University of Exeter’s willingness to deepen cooperation with Chinese universities and to further enhance UK-China collaboration in the field of philosophy and social sciences.
During the keynote session, Nobel laureate and New York University professor Thomas Sargent delivered a speech titled “Open Source Computing and Learning,” discussing the impact of AI technology on economic research. Yang Shanlin explored the broader development of AI as well as philosophy and social sciences. Fu Zitang shared insights on strengthening legal education in the era of AI and promoting innovation in legal studies. Ma Feicheng gave a presentation titled “Empowering Innovation in Humanities and Social Sciences with Digital Intelligence.”
In the research outcomes release session, Professor Wang Xiaoguang, Dean of the School of Information Management and Director of the Intelligent Computing Laboratory for Cultural Heritage at Wuhan University, introduced and released achievements related to 3D spatial data of cultural heritage.
The conference also featured five parallel sessions focusing on the following themes: “Digital Humanities and the Inheritance of Human Civilization,” “Intelligent Innovation and High-Quality Development,” “Intelligent Public Governance and Sustainable Development,” “Empowerment by Digital Intelligence and Comprehensive Rule of Law,” and “Driving the Future of Liberal Arts with Digital Intelligence.” A work meeting for the laboratory alliance was also held during the event.
