[Academic Exchange] Wuhan University Hosts Academic Symposium Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and Chinese War of Resistance

From March 8 to 9, the academic symposium titled "Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and Chinese War of Resistance" was held at Wuhan University. The event was jointly organized by the China Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies of Wuhan University and the research team of the project “Archival Collection and Study on the History of the World Anti-Fascist War (Including the Chinese War of Resistance).”

The symposium aimed to review history, draw lessons, and look toward the future, with in-depth discussions on the establishment and evolution of the post-World War II international order, and issues related to WWII and China’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Experts from over twenty universities and research institutes, including the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, participated in the event.

Participants unanimously agreed that the study of World War II and China's War of Resistance is not only a matter of historical memory but also profoundly impacts international relations in East Asia. Against the backdrop of global order transformations, intensified China-U.S. strategic competition, and the rise of artificial intelligence, it is necessary for us to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation, deepen WWII studies, and expand global perspectives.

Relevant officials pointed out that the successful convening of the symposium not only advanced research on WWII but also provided valuable academic insights for a deeper understanding of current international relations. Experts at the conference called on the academic community to draw lessons from history and contribute intellectual insights to provide stronger theoretical support for global peace and regional stability.
