Ma Feicheng

Born in August 1947 in Guizhou City of Guiyang Province;

Began to take up scientific and technological information research work in 1975;

Graduated with a Master’s Degree inScientific and Technological Informationfrom Wuhan University in 1983 and has stayed as a teacher to this date;

Engaged in cooperative research in German National Information Center from 1990 to 1991;

Worked as a visiting professor and conducted cooperative research in many famous American universities from 1994 to 1995 and in 2004.

Ma Feicheng, an expert on Information Management and Information Science, is nowthe Director of WHUInformation Resources Research Center, one of the key bases for Humanities and Social Sciences designated by the Ministry of Education, a board member of the Social Science Committee of Ministry of Education, the Vice-chair of Chinese Association of Scientific and TechnologicalInformation, the Vice-chair of Chinese Association of Information Economy andthe Vice President of International Association ofInformation Systems, Chinese Branch (CNAIS),while serving as an editorial member of plenty domestic andforeign fine journals. Also, he was once the convener of the Library, Information and Archives Management Review Group of the State CouncilAcademic Degrees Committee. He has not only long engaged in the teaching and research work in the field of information theory method, information resource management, but also served as the chief scientist for over 20 national or ministerial/provincial projects, such as the major research projects on philosophy and social sciences sponsored by the Ministry of Education and key projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Fund. In addition, he has authored 10 plus books, like Internet Information Ordering Principle - Web2.0 Mechanism, andOn the Development of IRM-KM Paradigm and Information Science, and publishedmore than 100 papers in key academic journals at home and abroad. Moreover, hehas won over 10 national or ministerial/provincial scientific research achievement awards, including the1st and 2nd Prize in the MOE Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Award, the 1st Prize in Hubei Social Sciences Outstanding Research Achievement Award, and the National Teaching Achievement Award. In 2007, he was listed among the “National Outstanding Teachers”, and won the Grand Prize of Baogang Excellent Teacher Award. A doctoral dissertation written under his guidance was included in the “National 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations”.
