On November 1, the SIG Cabinet of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) underwent a transition, with Professor An Lu from the School of Information Management being elected as the Cabinet Director of the ASIS&T. In this role, she will be responsible for overseeing the 18 professional committees established by ASIS&T.
Professor An Lu is a core member of the National Natural Science Foundation's Innovative Research Group and is involved in research areas such as network data analysis and knowledge organization. Her research focuses on applying theories and methods from information science, particularly network data analysis and knowledge organization, to address management issues, meeting significant societal demands. She holds positions such as Director of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO), Deputy Editor of Knowledge Organization, Co-Chair of the International Society for Knowledge Organization (ISKO), and Co-Chair of the ASIS&T SIG-KM Research Symposium. With high influence in the domestic and international library and information science community, she has received many awards, including the championship in the ASIS&T Social Media Research Competition.
ASIS&T was established in the United States in 1937 and has evolved over 80 years, bringing together scholars and researchers from various fields such as library science, information science, computer science, and data science. It stands as one of the most influential international academic organizations in the fields of library and information science globally.
