From October 29th to 30th, the 6th International Forum on Boundary and Ocean Studies was held at Wuhan University. The theme of this forum is "Belt and Road Cooperation and Research on Border Sea Issues".
More than 40 scholars from Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Canada, Brazil, Japan, mainland China and Hong Kong in the fields of history, international law, economics, and political science participated in the meeting online. The meeting focuses on the theme of "Belt and Road cooperation and international issues on borders and seas", and exchanges have been conducted on such topics as "Legacy of World War II: Territorial and Maritime Disputes in East Asia", "Belt and Road" high-quality development and cross-border cooperation, the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and transboundary water cooperation, global ocean governance and the law of the sea etc.
Wuhan University adopts a problem-oriented approach in boundary and ocean research, and encourages multidisciplinary research and talent training in theoretical and practical issues. Wuhan University strongly supports the study of border and ocean issues, and aims to encourage scholars from various countries to explore ways to resolve border and sea issues, and find ways for countries in disputes to resolve conflicts, avoid conflicts, manage differences, and resolve disputes peacefully.
Counselor Cheng Lei of the Department of Boundary and Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a keynote speech at the forum, interpreting China's working principles for resolving border and sea issues.
The participating scholars discussed enthusiastically the general direction of development under the "Belt and Road" framework, and pointed out new trends in international relations.
