Qiao Hongwu won the 18th Works Award of Sun Yefang Economic Science Award

The 18th Awards Ceremony of the Sun Yefang Economic Science Award and the "70 Years of China's Economic Development" Forum were held at Renmin University of China on November 17, 2019. Professor Qiao Hongwu from the School of Economics and Management of Wuhan University won the 18th (2018) Works Award of the Sun Yefang Economic Science Award for his research on Western Economic Ethics.

Professor Qiao Hongwu delivered a speech and said that the award is a great encouragement to him. It also reflects the full affirmation of the research paradigm ofcombining technical analysis with philosophical analysis ofthe economics.

Inhisview, the combination of economic principles and political principles can explore the rationality of the scientific world, which includes the idea of economic ethics. The twodisciplinesof economics and philosophical ethics are homologous. After the marginal revolution, the mainstream of Western economics began tobecomede-ethical, especially in the field of welfare economics.

Professor Qiao said that in Western economics, it is very difficult to dig and summarize economic thoughts. The research on this issue is roughly divided into two categories, one is based on the paradigm of economic research, and the other is from the perspective of ethical research. In this aspect, researchers need to haveknowledge inboth economics and philosophical ethics, only in this way, can theyexplore and sort out the thoughts of economic masters,especially the ethical thoughts contained in Western economics,andsum up the essence of their thoughts.
