On September 12, 2019, Professor Liu Liming from Lingnan University in Hong Kong brought an academic lecture entitled "Contract Manufacturing or Original Design Manufacturing? The Role of Consumer Preference Information" to the teachers and students of the School of Economics and Management.
Professor Liu Liming used Huawei and Xiaomi's outsourcing technology as an example to introduce the research background of the problem, pointing out that to develop new products, original equipment manufacturers generally choose two strategies. Then, Professor Liu Liming presented the model and conclusions of the research questions. The research shows that the uncertainty of consumer preferences under different cost structures plays a key role in determining the outsourcing strategy.
