From April 19th to 20th, Wuhan University held a seminar on academic thoughts of Mr. Peng Feizhang, a senior professor of humanities and social sciencesofWHU. Participants discussed Professor Peng Feizhang's academic thoughts through academic reports and exchanges, and expressedtheirwishesto learnfromand carry forward the spirit of Mr. Peng and spread his academic thoughts.
"Wuhan University is the cradle of my growth. I want to thank the University forcultivatingand educating me. I love my cause of educationinlibraryscience, I love what I have learned, and I don't regret it for the rest of my life." Peng Feizhang said, "Onemay learn from books, more often than not, one may learn from teachers, but one can learn the most from students.”In more than 60 years of teaching and research practice, he has been concentrating on teaching whilealso learning from his students, andstrives toexcel in both teaching and learning.
Peng Feizhang was born in Miluo, Hunan Province in 1930. After graduating in 1953, hestayedat Wuhan Universityas a teacher. From 1984 to 1992, he was the dean of the School of Library and Information Science of Wuhan University (now the School of Information Management of Wuhan University). Peng Feizhang is dedicated to the teaching and research of bibliographyand social science information theory and methods. He has actively strived to establish a doctoral programoflibrary science and information science in Wuhan University, and has achieved pioneering results in the field of library science and bibliography, which made an important contribution tothe development of thediscipline.
