[Academic News] Talks in the Air: Talking with Michael Schudson on the Rise of the Right to Information

On the morning of May 7, 2018, the Center for Studies of Media Development of Wuhan University launched the "Talks in the Air" project and held an academic dialogue over the Internet with Prof. Michael Schudson of Columbia University School of Journalism in the United States. “Talks in the Air” is the first high-end long-distance academic dialogue project in the field of journalism and communication in China. The Center uses Internet technology to communicate with scholars around the world on cutting-edge academic issues. This project will not only help the domestic academic community understand more quickly and deeply about the global academic development, but also endeavor to promote the dialogue and cooperation between Chinese scholars and foreign counterparts.

The guest invited for the first "Talks in the Air" was Professor Michael Schudson, an internationally renowned research expert in the history of journalism.

He began to discuss the concept of the right to information as a cultural right. The "Talks in the Air" is one of a series of academic activities organized by the Center for Studies of Media Development of Wuhan University. The audience on the site said that this innovative form of dialogue is very interesting and can be achieved through Internet technology. It is indeed an academically meaningful event that the internationally renowned scholar communicates with our students and shares with us his latest research results.
