On March 23, Prof. Xu Weixuan from the Institute of Science and Technology Policy and Management Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the 224thLuojia Lecture and gave a special report on “The Development Trend of China’s Management Research from the Perspectives of Publication of International Mainstream Journal Papers”. Prof. Wang Xianjia of School of Economics and Management presided over the lecture. Li Fei, Vice President of WHU, presented a commemorative certificate to professor Xu for being a Luojia lecturer.
In his report, Xu Weixuan started from the development laws of China's management science, introduced the classification criteria, selection principles and processes of international mainstream management science journals such as FTSO, UT/DALLAS, ABDC, and VHB. Then, Professor Xu talked about the principle of classification of China's management science journals - both in conformity with the laws of China's management science and in line with international standards.
Regarding the research trend of China's management science, Professor Xu pointed out that in recent years, the number of papers published in the top journals of management science from China has increased significantly, and the quality and academic influence have also been significantly improved. The status of disciplines has progressed significantly. More and more domestic scholars have served as editorial board members of important journals. The management research of the "China issue" has attracted the attention of international scholars. Prof. Xu introduced some outstanding research results published in top journals of management sciences such as TR-B, MS, AMJ, OR, and POM. These studies are based on the observation of a large number of actual cases, from which scientific issues are explored, and strict mathematical construction and logical analysis are conducted for conclusion, therefore they are of great significance to guide social production practice.
Character introduction: Prof. Xu Weixuan was graduated from the Department of Mathematics, Sun Yat-sen University in 1964, and studied in the Department of Mathematics, University of Science and Technology of China (supervisor: Hua Luogeng) from 1964 to 1968. He got his doctor degree in Applied Mathematics (OR/MS) from the University of Maryland in 1984. He was the former director and party secretary of the Institute of Science and Technology Policy and Management Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the chairman of the Chinese Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics. He has been a senior judge of the Department of Management Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and was a member of the Expert Advisory Committee. He has won first and second national awards for scientific and technological advancement, as well as a number of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress awards, and national outstanding young and middle-aged experts.
