From 2017 April 3-7, the General Assembly of the United Nations Working Group on the Right to Development was held in Geneva. Professor Wang Xigen from Wuhan University School of Law was invited to attend the meeting to advise on how to protect the right to development in the context of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
At the meeting, Professor Wang delivered a consultation report entitled "the Importance of Eliminating Poverty and the Right to Development". He offered recommendations and suggestions from five aspects, namely building a comprehensive knowledge platform, speeding up multi-disciplinary cooperation for innovation of poverty reduction mechanisms, establishing think tanks or expert advisory committees, drafting legislative documents concerning poverty reduction and the realization of the right to development, calling on countries to write their own documents of the right to development.
