On December 6, 2016, Prof. Yang Hua from the Research Center of Chinese Traditional Culture of Wuhan University attended the Forum of “China-UK Dialogue on the Humanities” held in Shanghai. The dialogue is a supporting activity of the "The 4thMeeting of China-UK High-level Humanities Exchange Mechanism", and it is co-sponsored by Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Universities UK, and supported by the Ministry of Education and the British Council.
During the dialogue, Prof. Yang Hua, together with more than 10 invited experts from the Chinese Research Center of Oxford University, the School of Oriental and African Studies of London University, the Chinese Department of Tsinghua University and the College of Foreign Languages and Literature of Fudan University, etc., held a round table and in-depth exchanges on five topics, namely globalization, humanities, humanities education, cross-border humanistic exchange and global imagination. Professor Yang Hua expressed his opinions on humanistic intellectuals' attitude towards globalization, the contribution of humanistic studies to cultural diversity, and the enlightenment of Chinese traditional education model to contemporary humanistic education.
It is reported that at this meeting, Wuhan University, as one of the initiating colleges and universities, together with Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Oxford University, Manchester University and other units, formed the " China-UK Association for the Humanities in Higher Education". The Association aims to encourage cross-cultural dialogue and cooperation in humanistic research and humanities education, and to consolidate and increase academic and cultural exchanges between Chinese and British universities.
