(News Correspondent: Li Chenliang) From October 18 to 20, the 30th China Conference on Information Retrieval (CCIR 2024) was held in Wuhan. Organized by the Information Retrieval Committee of the Chinese Information Processing Society of China and hosted by Wuhan University, this conference is a big annual academic event in the field of information retrieval in China. Under the theme “Information Retrieval in the Era of Large Models: Challenges and Opportunities,” the conference brought together over 300 scholars and researchers from universities and research institutions nationwide to discuss and exchange ideas on information retrieval in the era of large models.
The conference was chaired by Professor Wu Dan from Wuhan University, Professor Guo Jiafeng from the Institute of Computing Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Professor Lan Yanyan from Tsinghua University.
The event featured three keynote speeches. Vice President Liu Ting of Harbin Institute of Technology delivered a presentation titled "Debate-Oriented Decision Machines: A Case Study on Human-AI Diagnosis". Dr. Tian Qi, a Huawei Chief Scientist and academician of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, gave a presentation titled "3D/4D Content Creation and Reconstruction for Sparse Data", while Dr. Wang Shijin, Vice President of iFlytek, gave a talk on "Advances in General Artificial Intelligence and Its Applications". Attendees expressed that these reports were highly enlightening.
The conference also included sessions on multimedia retrieval, cutting-edge technologies, a youth forum, and an industry forum. Nearly 30 committee members of the Information Retrieval Committee shared their research tasks and progress. During the closing ceremony, Professor Chen Zhumin from Shandong University delivered a summary speech.
