[Scholar News] Professor Qin Tianbao Contributes to the United Nations Conference on Biological Diversity

The first phase of the 2020 United Nations Biodiversity Conference, and the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP15) was successfully held in Kunming, China from October 11-15. The theme of this conference is "Ecological Civilization: Building a Community of Life on Earth Together".

Professor Qin Tianbao, director of the Research Institute of Environmental Law of Wuhan University and chief expert of the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University, is working on an important research of "Research on the Legal Regulation of Biodiversity Conservation under the Overall System View". He gives full play to the advantages of the discipline of environmental law of Wuhan University by participating in negotiations, publishing papers, accepting interviews, etc., thus actively contributing to Wuhan University in the work of biodiversity conservation.

Since 2014, professor Qin Tianbao has participated in the frontline negotiations of the Convention on Biological Diversity as a member of the Chinese delegation and has been elected as a member and vice chairman of the Compliance Committee of the Nagoya Protocol under the Convention. Before this CBD COP15, Qin Tianbao participated in online negotiations on related topics as a member of the Chinese delegation, and he attended all the meetings of the first phase and successfully completed the delegation arrangement as the only university representative and law professor in the delegatio
