Xiao Yongping

          

 

Born in 1966 in Macheng City of Hubei Province,Xiao Yongping is now the Dean of the School of Law at Wuhan University. Xiao graduated from Southwest University of Political Science and Law in 1988, from which time to 1993, he studied Private International Law at the WHU School of Law where he received theDoctor’s Degree in Law and later became a professor. He was a visiting scholar in America Harvard University (1998), German Max-Planck-Institut (2000) and the University of Birmingham (2006). He was listed in the second batch of "Famous Jurists in Contemporary China" in 2009, and selected for theNew Century National Talents Project in 2010.

His main research fields include International Conflict Law, International Trade Law and International Commerce Arbitration Law. Some of his representative papers are as follows:The Conflict of Laws between Mainland China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region: The Choice of Coordination Modelspublished in Yearbook of Private International Law, Volume 4 (2002);Order Public in China’s Private International Law published in The American Journal of Comparative Law, Volume 53 (2005), and The Application of the Doctrine of the Most Significant Relationship in China Conflict Law published inSocial Sciences in China, Volume 3 (1992).
