Wang Xinyan

                                  

 

Born in 1961, Wang Xinyan graduated from the Philosophy Department of Wuhan University and obtained a PhD in Marxist Philosophy in 1988, since then he has stayed at WHU as a teacher till now. He was a senior visiting scholar in the Philosophy Department of University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaig(UIUC) from 1999 to 2000, and is now the director of WHU Marxist Philosophy Research Institute. His main research areas are found in the Basic Theories of Marxist Philosophyand the Sinofication of Marxist Philosophy.

Wang has presided over 10 research projects at or above provincial and ministerial level such as “Collection of and Research on the Complete Works of Li Da"(as chief expert), the major bidding project sponsored by National Social Science Fund. Besides, he has a dozen works published by domestic and overseas presses, such as People's Publishing House, Zhonghua Book Company and Taiwan Shu Xin Press,and more than 200 papers published in academic journals at home and abroad. Also, he has won 30 plus awards and prizes at or above provincial and ministerial level, including the National Book Award, the "Five Top Projects"Prize from the Publicity Department of CPC Central Committee, the Outstanding Humanities and Social Sciences Achievement in HEIs Award from the Ministry of Education and the Excellent University Young Teacher Award from the Ministry of Education.
