[Academic Annual Conference]Wuhan University Women and Gender Studies Center Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary and Holds the 2023 Academic Annual Conference

Recently, the 30th-anniversary celebration of the Women and Gender Studies Center of Wuhan University and the 2023 Academic Annual Conference were successfully held at Wuhan University. The theme of the annual meeting was "Dreaming in the New Era, Blooming Her Brilliance", bringing together numerous experts, scholars, female scientists, and entrepreneurs at Luojia Mountain.

At the opening ceremony, Ms. Du Jie, Director of the Women's Studies Institute of the All-China Women's Federation and Secretary-General of the Chinese Women's Research Society, delivered a speech. She fully affirmed the center's 30 years of dedication to promoting the development of women's causes and its fruitful achievements in academic research, talent cultivation, social services, and other aspects. She hoped that the center would continue its efforts and create new chapters in the new era. Ms. Peng Yanhong, Deputy Chairman of the Hubei Women's Federation, introduced the relevant work of the provincial Women's Federation in supporting gender equality and safeguarding women's rights. She expressed beautiful wishes for the empowerment of women in science and technology and the desire to promote gender equality in the field of science and technology. Ms. Chi Chunxia, Deputy Director of the Center for Women's Studies at Peking University and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Further Education, delivered a speech. She proposed strengthening exchanges and cooperation among sister universities, jointly promoting gender research and talent training, and actively supporting women workers to play positive roles in their respective fields.

Zhao Xuemei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Wuhan University and Director of the Center, reviewed and summarized the achievements of the center in academic research, talent cultivation, social services, and international influence over the past 30 years. She pointed out that the Center would continue to deeply study and implement the spirit of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, increase support for talent cultivation, theoretical innovation, and technological innovation, and contribute to the construction of Chinese modernization.

In the keynote speech session, five experts and scholars from top domestic universities and research institutions gave presentations on women's development in the new era from different perspectives.

In the growth forum section, five outstanding figures and role models in their respective disciplines and industries discussed the challenges faced by women in the field of scientific research and proposed countermeasures based on their own experiences. They expressed their visions for strengthening women's participation and development in the field of science and technology and promoting gender equality in the field.
