[Academic Seminar] Scholars and Experts Discuss the Inheritance and Innovation of Yangtze River Culture, "Taking the Pulse" for the Development of Yangtze River Culture

On November 6, the "First Yangtze River Culture Seminar" opened in Wuhan Yangtze River Civilization Hall at the Wuhan Natural History Museum. With the theme of "Inheritance and Innovation of Yangtze River Culture in the New Era", the conference explored ways to expand, protect, inherit and promote the Yangtze River culture.

Twelve well-known experts from Tsinghua University, Nanjing University and other colleges and universities delivered keynote speeches.

Five scholars including Liu Yuzhu, Chairman of the China Cultural Relics Conservation Foundation, He Yunao, Professor of Nanjing University, Xiong Chengyu, Professor of Tsinghua University, Sun Ruofeng, Researcher-in-Residence of Wuhan University, and Fang Qin, Director of Hubei Provincial Museum, delivered speeches on such issues as promoting the Yangtze River culture, protecting and utilizing the Yangtze River cultural heritage, the construction of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park, the two waves of exchange and integration between the civilization of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the civilization of the Yellow River.

The experts at the meeting agreed that the Yangtze River culture is an important part of Chinese culture. It connects the east and the west, intersects the north and the south, and carries the profound history of Chinese culture. Research on the inheritance and innovation of the Yangtze River culture is indispensable for protecting the culture of the Yangtze River and studying the Yangtze River culture.

The Yangtze River is the mother river of Chinese civilization, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt is the main battlefield of contemporary Chinese economic development. Studying the Yangtze River culture, tracing the history of the Yangtze River, and inferring the development trend of the Yangtze River are of great significance to the development of the harmonious coexistence of man and nature in our country. It is the first time in China that universities have jointly organized the Yangtze River Culture Seminar in cooperation with the Academy of Social Sciences, museums and other institutions.
