Center for Studies of Information Resources was invited to Switzerland and France for Seminar

On October 21, 2017, at the invitation of the Académie des sciences d'outre-mer and the UN Library in Geneva, Professor Zhou Yaolin, Vice Dean of the School of Information Management, Researcher at Wuhan University Center for Studies of Information Resources, Professor Wang Xiaoguang, Deputy Director of the Center, Associate Professor Wang Ping from the School of Information Management and Dr. Wang Yujue attended the Seminar on "Archival Storage and Reuse in the Digital Era: Practice in China and France" held in Paris, France and visited the UN office in Geneva.

At the Seminar, Bruno Delmas, former Dean of the French Overseas Academy of Sciences and winner of the French Legion of Honour, co-chaired the opening ceremony with Professor Zhou Yaolin, experts from both sides made reports and conducted in-depth exchanges on topics such as digital archiving of local governments in France, protection measures of native digital archives, strategy of obtaining public files in the digital era, the "Three Systems" work of China Archives Bureau, storage and organization of information resources for intangible cultural heritage protection, deep semantic organization of digital image of Dunhuang murals, storage and organization of information resources for the protection of intangible cultural heritage, legal provisions on the disclosure and acquisition of Chinese archives and so on.

During the visit to the UN office in Geneva, the two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on matters such as selecting outstanding teachers and students for visits and internship at the UN Library in Geneva and exchanges were made on digital and humanities cooperation, and initial intention of cooperation was reached.

This visit is an important part of the overseas outreach of the Center, which hopes to further expand the scope of overseas exchange, enhance its international reputation, and lay a solid foundation for cooperation between the Center and international organizations.
