The Innovative Value of "China Employer-Employee Survey" Attracted Attention from Stanford Scholars

On December 5, "China Employer-Employee Survey" (CEES) Symposium was successfully held at Stanford University. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Takeo Hoshi from the Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) of Stanford University. Prof. Gi-Wook Shin, Director of the Center, and more than 20 scholars from the Department of Economics, Business School and Knight Management Center of Stanford University attended the symposium. This is the second time Wuhan University Institute of Quality Development Strategy introduced the project and the academic value of CEES to Stanford University experts after the first meeting on November 28th. The symposium highlighted the value of the CEES survey as a data platform for research on China's innovation and development issues.

During the meeting, the participants had a better understanding of the CEES project, and they showed a keen interest in the descriptive statistics of CEES and the basic empirical conclusions. In particular, R&D investment, the number of patents, research and development outsourcing, new product sales and other innovative data have attracted much interest from more than 10 senior scholars of Stanford University. Prof. Cheng Hong, Dean of Wuhan University Institute of Quality Development Strategy, answered questions based on the CEES data, such as China's innovation investment growth, income increase of R&D designers, and China's total factor growth etc.

Based on the CEES data, the experts from the Wuhan University Institute of Quality Development Strategy held a comprehensive discussion with Prof. Takeo Hoshi about the mismatch of human capital caused by different ownership structures in China and the zombie enterprise issue caused by it, and the discussion was highly acclaimed by Prof. Hoshi, who was also the founder of the "Zombie Enterprise" theory. At present, experts of our university have been conducting research with Professor Hoshi on the above-mentioned issues. (Institute of Quality Development Strategy Li Tang)
