Professor Lin Yizheng Lectured in Our University

   

    From May 19th to 21st, Professor Lin Yizheng, the former director of Department of Philosophy of National Taiwan University and the adjunct professor, was invited to give lectures in our school.

    In his report entitled Internal and Crossover Interpretations as Two Fundamental Hermeneutic Prototypes of interpreting Classic Chinese Writings: Taking The Book of Change (I Ching) as an Example, Lin exemplified hermeneutic prototypes for The Book of Change (I Ching) and discussed the merits and costs of these two prototypes and insisted their indispensible roles in the interpretation of classics.

    In his report Aims and Methods in Hermeneutic Interpretations of the Chinese Classics — the case of the Chunqiu, Professor Li analyzed the forms and change of direction in interpretation and illuminated its aims and methods.

    In the report of Pre-knowledge in Chinese Classics Interpretation — Taking Dayi (Meta-Change) and Chunqiu as an Example, Professor Lin Yizheng introduced ancient scholars’ studies on the relationship between the two books to demonstrate the complexity in classics interpretation.
