On June 21,the Journal of the Association for Information Science & Technology(JASIST), a top journal in the field of library and information, published online Digital Humanities in the iSchool written by Professor Wang Xiaoguang from the School of Information Management of Wuhan University.
This article is the latest authoritative research result of the Digital Humanities Teaching Steering Committee of the iSchool. As the only Chinese member of the committee, Wang Xiaoguang represented the Chinese digital humanities community and participated in the committee's one-year investigation and research and academic seminars, and finally published the committee's findings in the form of a paper.
This article conducts a comprehensive investigation and content analysis of the curriculum, talent training and scientific research projects under the background of iSchool. The committee investigated the curriculum and talent training programs of the digital humanities major in iSchool, and found that there are big differences in digital humanities education models around the world. There are 4 different interdisciplinary cooperation modes in the digital humanities project in iSchool. The research also uses QDAMiner software to conduct a qualitative analysis of job advertisements for digital humanities jobs. Based on the results of various surveys, this article fully reveals the current status, trends and challenges of digital humanities research and teaching in iSchool, it also provides a guide for the development of the digital humanities system, interdisciplinary digital humanities courses for universities around the world, majors setting, and related research projects.
