Recently, two English academic journals of our university,Chinese Journal of Environmental LawandBamboo and Silk, were formally included in the "Emerging Sources Citation Index" (ESCI) database of Web of Science. The two journals are sponsored by the Research Institute of Environmental Law and the Center of Bamboo Silk Manuscripts of Wuhan University respectively and are published in cooperation with the world's leading academic publishing house Brill.
TheChinese Journal of Environmental Lawis the first formal academic publication in the field of environmental law in China. Officially launched and published in 2017, the Journal is co-edited by Professor Qin Tianbao and Professor Ben Boer from the Research Institute of Environmental Law of the School of Law. Its advisory committees and editorial committees consists of well-known environmental law scholars from all over the world. Since its inception, theChinese Journal of Environmental Lawhas become a platform for high-quality dialogue and international academic exchange and researches regarding environmental laws and policies in various countries. It focuses on the system construction, compliance and enforcement of biodiversity law, climate change law, energy law, environmental assessment law, marine environment law, natural resources law, planning law, pollution prevention law, and environmental courts.
Bamboo and Silkis an English academic journal reviewed anonymously by peer experts, it is edited by the Center of Bamboo Silk Manuscripts of Wuhan University, published and distributed by international publisher Brill, Professor Chen Wei of Wuhan University and Professor Edward L.Shaughnessy of the University of Chicago serve as the editor-in-chief. The journal was officially launched and published in 2017, with 1 issue each in the first and second half of the year, and currently 7 issues have been published. In 2019, it was included in the European Research Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS).Bamboo and Silkpays attention to the unearthed Chinese bamboo and silk documents during the pre-Qin, Qin, Han, Wei and Jin periods, mainly involving textual research and interpretation, text restoration, and discussion of social, political, economic, legal systems as well as ideological, cultural, language and other territories found in the bamboo and silk documents. It publishes research papers, related reviews and book reviews, reflecting the latest findings of Chinese bamboo and silk literature and the latest developments in international academic research.
In recent years, in accordance with the goals of building a world-class university and first-class discipline, Wuhan University has selected some advantageous and characteristic majors, promoted the development of English journals, and further enhanced the international visibility and influence of philosophy and social sciences.
