Three scholars of WHU were selected by the International Law Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On April 2, the first plenary meeting of the 4th International Law Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was held in Beijing. The then Vice Foreign Minister Luo Zhaohui attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Xiao Yongping, Dean of the Institute of International Rule of Law and Director of the Institute of International Law of Wuhan University, was appointed the consultant of the International Law Advisory Committee, Yu Minyou, the Dean of the Institute of Boundary and Ocean Studies, and Huang Zhixiong, the Deputy Dean of the School of Law and the chief expert of the International Rule of Law Institute team, were appointed as committee members.

Jia Guide, Director of the Department of Treaty and Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presided over the meeting. Luo Zhaohui issued letters of appointment to consultants and committee members, and gave a speech on the current international situation and outstanding international law issues and how to better play the role of the advisory committee. The participating consultants and committee members conducted pragmatic and in-depth discussions on relevant hot issues of international law.

The International Law Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established in January 2015 and is composed of well-known domestic international law experts. Its main responsibility is to provide legal opinions, research reports and policy recommendations on major diplomatic issues. The current term of appointment of the International Law Advisory Committee is from April 2021 to March 2023.
