In the board of directors’ election of the International Society of Scientometrics and Information Metrology (ISSI) in 2019, Zhang Lin, a professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Information Management, was elected as a permanent member. This is the first time a Chinese scholar has entered the ISSI board.
Founded in 1993 in Berlin, Germany, the ISSI is the world's most authoritative academic organization in the field of scientific metrology and information metrology. It consists of global scholars in the fields of scientific measurement, information measurement, network measurement, and science and technology policy. The ISSI board is voted by all ISSI members and has six members, who are responsible for organizing and coordinating international conferences, international academic honors and awards in this field during their term of office.
Zhang Lin is the deputy editor ofScientometrics, an international authoritative journal of SCI/SSCI, and the deputy director of the Chinese Society of Scientometrics and Information Metrology, and she is also the editor of the International English Journal,Frontiers in Scholarly Metrics and Analytics, Journal of Data and Information Science. She has served on many occasions as a member of the International Scientific Committee of ISSI. She is one of the five global judges of ISSI's 2016 International Best Papers and the only judge in Asia. In 2017 and 2019, she was nominated for the Price Award, which is the highest international scientometrics award.
