WHU participates in the 2021 China-UK Executive Council Meeting of the Higher Education and Humanities Education Alliance

On April 14, the 2021 China-UK Executive Council Meeting of the Higher Education and Humanities Education Alliance and Annual Conference Roundtable Forum jointly hosted by Tsinghua University and the University of Exeter was held at Tsinghua University in the form of both online and offline meeting. Shen Zhuanghai, Deputy Secretary of the WHU Party Committee, and Yang Hua, Director of the Traditional Culture Research Center, were invited to attend this event online.

At the meeting, Shen Zhuanghai pointed out that Wuhan University, as a founding university of the alliance, has been actively participating in its activities and undertaking related work. Wuhan University agreed to the executive council’s discussion on the development of the alliance mechanism, the construction of academic committees, and Fudan University to host the 2022 alliance academic forum among other issues. Wuhan University will host the alliance’s annual forum in 2023, the 130th anniversary of the founding of Wuhan University. At that time, Wuhan University will welcome all guests from China and Britain in the beautiful Luojia Mountain.

After the Executive Council Meeting, a Roundtable Forum with the theme of "Reimagining Global: University" was held. Scholars gave keynote speeches on "the importance of cross-language, cross-border, and cross-cultural academic research", "the important role of universities in building a global community", "how does humanities education shape the future of universities", and "the digital development trend of universities". The follow-up forum hosted by the University of Exeter will be held in mid-May this year.
