On October 31, the "China Social Science Forum (2019·Economics): Ecological Civilization Paradigm Transformation - China and the World" hosted by the Presidium of the Academic Divisions of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and the Jinan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government was held in Jinan. Ben Boer, Distinguished Professor of “National Distinguished Experts” of our School of Law, was invited to participate in the forum and delivered a speech entitled “Ecological Civilization and Environmental Law Education” in the fourth sub-forum on “University Education for Environmental Responsibility and Ecological Civilization”.

Professor Bu Ruide first called for a reasonable and clear definition of ecological civilization at the legal level. Secondly, Professor Bu discussed the importance of the concept of ecological civilization at the international level. He believed that the “Belt and Road Initiative” is an important opportunity for the application of the concept of ecological civilization, and proposed that university law education can help to understand ecological civilization at the legal level and play an important role. Finally, Professor Bu Ruide believed that ecological civilization could be a positive path for reforming many environmental laws at home and abroad. By advocating the concept of ecological civilization, China demonstrates the political will to implement environmental laws and set a global example in this regard.
