Professor Wenka • Omonon Lectures: "Writing My Identity into Being: Chinese Australian Life Writing"

On April 20, 2017, Professor Wenche Ommundsen, an internationally renowned scholar on diaspora literature from Wollongong University in Australia, gave a lecture entitled "Writing My Identity into Being: Chinese Australian Life Writing".

Wenka pointed out that different from novel, life writing is based on real things and people, thus giving a sense of reality. The core contradiction around the theory of life writing is to explore the relationship among the writer, the narrator and the main character, and in life writing, the three can actually be seen as one subject; however, to some extent, the three are not the same person, contradictions may arise due to time and space dislocation.
